Santa Claus Village
Did you know that you could actually meet Santa Claus? Yes, the real Santa Claus and no we aren’t kidding! At Santa’s official hometown in Finland, not only can you cross the magical Arctic Circle but also enjoy a private chat with the man himself. Where else in the world is Christmas celebrated 365 days a year!
Aurora Borealis
The bright dancing lights of the aurora can be seen in many colours; however, they are commonly spotted in shades of green and pink. In Finland, nature’s most spectacular light show can be viewed on roughly 200 nights a year. The more traditional ways to go Aurora spotting are snowmobiling, snowshoeing and dog sledding.
Glass Igloos
Lay on your comfortable warm cosy bed as the ethereal green aurora dances right above your private glass igloo. Undoubtedly, a once-in-a-lifetime experience, ain’t it! Whether you want to soak in a private hot tub or husky sled before meeting Santa in your own heated igloo, Finland has it all and more.
Sauna Culture
There is nothing more Finnish than a sauna, and many Finns think you cannot grasp Finland or its culture without bathing in a sauna. A sauna is a place for mental and physical cleansing and as the Finns believe- just kick back and relax while in the sauna. There are reportedly three million saunas in Finland and it’s said that in Finland, more important decisions get made in saunas than in meetings.
Local Community
Finland has been termed, ‘The happiest place to live’ and off course, the Finns are a delight to be around. Finns are talkative and warm-hearted folks who believe in showcasing hospitality in the form of endless food and drinks as they lay foundations for lifelong friendships. Joking with someone (or even at someone’s cost!) is a Finnish way of saying “I like you”. It would probably be fair to say that Finns are sociable, but have a mischievous way of showing it.
